The Perfect Diet - 7 Tips For the Perfect Diet For Busy People on the Go

Is there such a thing as the perfect diet? If you're like most people then the perfect diet is one that fits in with your lifestyle, gives value for money and actually does what it says on the label i.e. helps you to lose weight.

Above all, busy people on the go need food they can heat up easily, preferably in a microwave and which takes the least amount of preparation time. The perfect diet is a diet designed for both those with busy lifestyles, and also those who regularly fail to stick to diets that involve lots of messing around counting calories, carbohydrates or points etc.

Busy people don't have the time, energy or the will power to see a complicated diet through to the bitter end. This is the main reason why so many, who begin with good intentions, fall by the wayside long before they reach their target weight. Maybe this sounds familiar to you. The present credit crunch finds many people, and this might include you, working two jobs which means they have even less time now to plan, prepare and cook special diet meals.

So how do you find the perfect diet for you?

Before starting on any diet there are a few things you should check for:

1. Do you actually like all the food on the menu? If you don't, then no matter how determined you are at the start you'll never be able to stick to it. Is it varied enough to keep you interested for the amount of time it will take you to reach your target weight? If you only have a few pounds to lose this will not be an important issue but if you want to lose more than a stone in weight you're going to need a lot of staying power to see it through to the end.

2. Does it fit in with your lifestyle? Sticking to a diet can be a difficult task at the best of times. If you pick one that requires special food you have to hunt for in the shops and then spend hours preparing, you're not going to last for long. Especially if you work long hours and need to grab something quick on the go.

3. Is it healthy food or does it contain shaped meat, additives or artificial flavorings? If you've opted for pre-packaged low calorie meals then be extremely careful they don't contain additives and artificial flavorings or anything else unnatural. Some low calorie foods are so bland in flavor due to their lack of nutrients they need to have the flavors added artificially to make them palatable.

4. Does the diet include or recommend you add plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables? Remember your 5 a day. Fresh fruit and vegetables supply both the slow release carbohydrates you need to keep you feeling full up for longer and fiber to help with digestion. They also contain vital vitamins and minerals necessary to keep your healthy.

5. The perfect diet should contain enough good quality protein. Protein is your body's building blocks and should make up about one third of your daily intake. Whether you get your protein from milk, dairy products, lean meat or fish it is vitally important that you get enough. Otherwise you will lose weight but you will also lose muscle mass and body mass as well.

6. Do you have to spend any time counting calories, measuring out food or using a point scoring system? When you're in a hurry it's easy to misjudge or miscalculate and mistakes are easily made.

7. Are the meals tasty and easy to prepare? Meals that are both tasty and easily prepared will have you looking forward to each meal time with anticipation. The reason why most diets fail is because they are boring, too restrictive and being on a diet feels more like a test of endurance.

You also need to consider whether the diet is good value for money. Does the time it saves you and the simplicity of the meals favorably outweigh the cost? Do you feel you're getting a good deal?

There is no perfect diet that suits everyone. But if you choose a diet that fills all the above criteria for you then you will be well on your way to finding the perfect diet for you.
