Vegan refers to a person whose diet excludes meat, eggs, dairy products and all other animal-derived ingredients. Vegans also do not eat foods that are processed using animal products including sugar and wine. They also avoid the use of all products tested on animals as well as animal-derived non-food products such as leather, fur and wool.
Most people who are used to being a carnivore would agree that it is not easy to shift to an exclusive vegetable-based diet. There are numerous animal-based foods that are very hard to resist, much more that most restaurants and supermarkets sells enticing animal products. It will definitely require a lot of effort to go against the regular trend. But can going a vegan really make a difference? Will the effort of resisting animal products be worth it?

Vegans live longer
Vegan diet is very beneficial to the health, even to those whose genetics predisposes one to illnesses such as diabetes, high cholesterol and heart diseases. According to study done by German Cancer Research Center, vegans on average, live longer than those who eat meat. The US-Food and Drug Administrator on the other hand believe that both vegan and vegetarian diets are the healthiest diets of most of these foods are low in cholesterol. And if Americans would reduce their meat consumption by 10%, that would free up to 12,000 tons of grain and feed 60,000,000 people around the world. Moreover, fast foods are considered unhealthy and cause many health problems due to meat products.
Vegans have better food
Vegans have become conscious of what they are putting on their mouth. They tend to know and be watchful of their food content, that most of the time they could avoid those foods full of harmful chemicals and preservatives. Their diet would mostly consist of healthful vegetable-based products highly packed with nutrients. In fact, milk consumption has been linked to Crohns Disease, arteriosclerotic heart disease, diabetes, osteoporosis, infectious disease, milk sickness, Parkinson's disease, allergies, anal fissures, chronic constipation, ear infections, multiple sclerosis and prostate cancer.
Vegans have become better friends
Although vegans mostly are society misfits and exist on the fringe of society, a recent study suggests that vegans are more empathic than omnivores. They are innately compassionate to animals, much more to humans, right?
Vegans do not kill animals
Vegans are strongly against the abuse of animals. There is no murdering of animals of all sorts. Compassion to animals is one of the stronger reasons of going vegan.
Vegans live by principle
In a general sense, most vegans oppose violence to animals. With that said, they found bigger reasons to be good to other people. Most vegans adopt the lifestyle because of moral baseline. Being vegan is by no means just about food. It goes to being environmentalist and awareness of social and political issues.
Going vegan is the best thing that one can do for herself or himself. Reading labels is not hard, and buying vegan clothing is incredibly effortless. Just because one is vegan that does not mean he or she has to protest and be a walking billboard for the veg-lifestyle. Being vegan is simply great for you. It really makes a huge difference to be concerned not only for one's welfare but for welfare of the others as well.
